Project Snapshot
Project Story
Overview
A Point Loma pool kept its perimeter and lost its old rock slide. 1,733 sf of Angelus Courtyard pavers came in around the water, with curved bullnose steps and a small turf accent beside them.
Losing the old rock slide and getting clean pavers around the pool changed how the whole yard feels.
The Challenge
- 1,733 sf of aging pool deck around the pool, with a rock slide in the corner eating real swim room nobody used.
- The slide had to come out — not be replaced with another water feature — and the deck needed to read as one continuous Angelus Courtyard Combo 60MM surface with 42 lf of bullnose steps.
- 50 lf of SDR35 drain line had to move water off the deck and away from the foundation without a visible system breaking up the look.

Design & Build
The Plan
Angelus Courtyard Combo 60MM pavers selected to cover 1,733 sf of pool-deck hardscape.
Curved bullnose steps (42 lf) built to transition from the upper patio level down to the pool edge.
130 sf SGW Nature’s Best artificial turf insert placed as an accent strip beside the steps and pool perimeter
50-lf 3-inch SDR35 drain line with 3 plastic drain caps routed to carry surface water away from the foundation
9 lf of concrete sawcut included to create a clean transition between the new paver field and the existing slab.
NextGel polymeric sand (gray) used throughout to lock joints and resist washout in poolside conditions

The Build
Demo and Site Prep
The old rock pool slide was demolished and hauled away. Targeted brick, clay tile, and concrete removals prepared the pool deck and adjacent patio areas for new pavers.
Drainage
A 50 lf SDR35 drain line and three plastic drain caps were installed as part of the pool deck drainage scope.
Pavers and Steps
The crew installed 1,733 sf of Angelus Courtyard Combo 60MM pavers across the pool-deck hardscape, plus 42 lf of curved bullnose steps.
Turf Accent
A 130 sf SGW Nature's Best turf accent was installed beside the pool steps with green antimicrobial sand infill.
