Project Snapshot
Project Story
Overview
IID transformed this West Ridge front and backyard with 360 sq ft of Angelus Paseo pavers set in a modern grid pattern through 308 sq ft of Imperial Coronado Platinum artificial turf, plus segmental Bastione retaining walls, comprehensive drainage, and 16 Pro-Trade LED lights.
The Challenge
- The front and back yards consisted mostly of bare compacted soil with sparse existing plants, unusable for family activities or entertaining
- Poor drainage caused water to collect near the foundation during rain events, threatening the home's structure
- Existing irrigation system needed complete overhaul to accommodate the new landscape design

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a paver and artificial turf project cost in Escondido?
This West Ridge project with 360 sq ft of pavers, 308 sq ft of artificial turf, retaining walls, drainage, and lighting was in the $34k-$42k range. Cost depends on total area, wall height and complexity, drainage requirements, and lighting scope.
Do retaining walls require permits in Escondido?
Walls over 3 feet in exposed height typically require building permits. This project's Bastione walls were designed to stay within permit exemption limits while providing effective drainage and planting areas.
How does the drainage system work?
45 feet of perforated pipe collects subsurface water and directs it through solid drain lines to 2 pop-up drains. The system meets California grading code requirements for foundation protection with proper slope away from the home.
What maintenance does Imperial Coronado Platinum turf require?
Virtually none. Occasional rinsing and brushing to maintain blade direction. No watering, fertilizing, or mowing. The infill helps blades stay upright and provides realistic feel.
How long does installation take?
This project took 19 active construction days over 3 weeks. Timeline depends on scope size, weather, and permit requirements. The HOA approval was obtained same-day as construction start.
