Project Story

Overview

Weeds and cracked concrete were the front yard at this San Diego home in 92111. Install It Direct replaced them with about 740 square feet of Angelus pavers, paver steps finished with bullnose caps, an Angelus Rustic retaining wall on a new footing and bond beam, a small turf area, Birdseye Brown rock, new planting on drip and 10 low-voltage lights. The scope grew during the build through two approved change orders.

The Challenge

  • The front yard was dated, with weeds and cracked concrete.
  • An old wall needed to come out and be rebuilt properly.
  • The walk to the front door needed real steps and lighting.

What Changed

The weeds and cracked concrete are gone. The front yard now has Angelus pavers, capped paver steps lit by four step lights, a rebuilt Rustic wall, a small turf area and planted beds on drip. Closed out June 25, 2026.

How INSTALL-IT-DIRECT Helped

The old wall came out and the existing concrete was saw-cut to a clean edge. A new footing and bond beam were poured for the Angelus Rustic wall, drain and perforated pipe went in with pop-up outlets, then the pavers, steps and bullnose caps were laid. Turf, rock, weed barrier, planting on drip and 10 lights finished the yard.

Over 1,000 five-star reviews and 1,500+ San Diego homeowners served.

Design & Build

The Plan

  • Remove the old wall and saw-cut the concrete that stays to a clean edge.

  • Build an Angelus Rustic retaining wall on a new concrete footing with a bond beam.

  • Lay about 740 square feet of Angelus pavers and build paver steps capped with Angelus 6×14 bullnose.

  • Add a small turf area, Birdseye Brown rock and new planting with mulch over weed barrier on drip irrigation.

  • Install drain and perforated pipe with pop-up drains, and 10 low-voltage lights including four step lights.

The Build

Demo and saw-cutting

The existing wall and footing came out, weeds and debris were hauled off, and the remaining concrete was saw-cut to a clean edge.

Footing, bond beam and wall

A new footing with about 64 feet of bond beam was poured, and the Angelus Rustic wall was built on top.

Drainage

About 50 feet of 3 inch SDR35 drain line and 36 feet of perforated pipe went in with pop-up drains.

Pavers and steps

About 740 square feet of Angelus pavers were laid with polymeric sand, and the steps were built with risers, treads and 6x14 bullnose caps.

Turf, rock, planting and lighting

About 184 square feet of turf, Birdseye Brown rock, mulched planting on a new drip valve and Hunter controller, and 10 low-voltage fixtures finished the yard.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a front yard paver and wall project cost in San Diego 92111?
